The Karuna Project is named after a Sanskrit word, which means compassion for all.

Compassion is necessary for self-nurturing in times of trouble, transition and loss.

Compassion informs how we help each other during these times.  Quiet listening provides the ground on which to begin the journey back to wholeness.

Karuna is one of the four noble truths of Buddhism and forms the basis for Metta Bhavani, or Loving Kindness meditation, which is practiced by many people all across the world. It is the root of Tonglen and it could very well be the antidote to suffering.

After the death of Alby Coenen, we found many letters that he had written in the past. Each letter had this word in the top right hand corner.
